How about illegal logging

How about illegal logging

In Colitt’s (2007) article entitled “Amazon deforestation drops sharply”, he points out that the deforestation rate of the Amazon rain forests appeared to fall down gradually. Compared to the previous years, the square miles which were cut decreased recently. It is positive news, but the real celebration has to depend on the grain price becoming lower. He states the high grain and commodity prices make the farmers enlarge their land to fit the market’s need and chop down the ancient forests to agricultural land. The Brazilian government developed the polices to defend the ancient forest, decreasing the illegal logging. Although the deforestation rate has improved, the government still has a long way to go.

It is clear that the article reflected the present condition honestly. The author claimed the government worked hard and made the deforestation rate drop. I think this is real exciting news, but we can’t satisfy this progress and just keep the situation. I believe we still have many things to improve, because the problem of illegal logging is not solved completely and happens in these times. I cheer for the good news of the article; moreover, there are some ideas we can concern about illegal logging. There are three directions presented my for ideas.

First, we still must carefully make the deforestation rate less. We can’t be happy to stop protecting the ancient forest. It is better if we can make illegal logging disappear totally, even though it require to spend much human resources or even the finances. Many problems we have to meet when we have to stand up to ban illegal logging, like international trading, force, and the country need to be willing by itself, but I think we all know deforestation is harmful and we should support the forests and do something. For example, don’t buy the new paper instead of using used paper. We may just be able to do a little thing, but it is still helpful.

Second, we are all concerned about endangered species. The article, “Illegal logging-destroying the last Ancient” (2007, para. 2) says that “its effects include forestation, the loss of biodiversity and fuelling climate change”. I think we have lost many resources in the Ancient forests already. Maybe we should replenish the environment; on the other hand, prohibit illegal logging. If the situation of illegal logging can be controlled, we also want the species to be able come back and keep the biodiversity just like before. It is a positive way to be for our Amazon forests. We not only protect them, but also rebuild them.

Third, it is worth encouragement that the policies can work efficiency and completely. However, the government has to keep the price of commodities and grain stable. The price and the expanding of the planted areas are relative and influence each other. I think the government can use the public power to make the price stable; for example give the prize to the farmers who cooperate with the police, or give finance aid. The government should give some favorable treatment; I believe the people will be willing to follow the policies.

In conclusion, these days, we know that protecting the ancient forests will make some nice use. Also, we still have a long way to progress to improve our situation. In addition, we follow the protecting organization step continually, and the ancient forests will be renewed. Humans have to discover ways to make the species exist incessantly. After the basic work to forbid illegal logging, I state we have some advanced work to do.

Illegal logging- a nightmare for the Amazon

Illegal logging- a nightmare for the Amazon

In the article ”Illegal logging-destroying the last Ancient Forests”, the author points out that the ancient forests are special and unique habitats for species and home to millions of people. However, there is 80 percent of ancient forests that have been ruined, and much of what remains is threatened by illegal logging. Illegal logging is a overwhelming threat to ancient forests, and illegal logging results in deforestation, the loss of biodiversity, and climate change. In addition, Illegal logging makes the legal timber production become weaker and its revenue decelerate quickly. Next, importing and trading illegal logging products is another way to assist the forest crime. Now the policies about protecting ancient forests are not developed enough to keep it safe completely.

It is clear that the author condemns the illegal logging seriously. We can’t ignore illegal logging anymore. The author has different views to blame for this action. In my opinions, I think it is complete and true; the illegal logging needs to be scolded and banned. Therefore, the government of every country should help to solve this immediately. There are three reasons presented that follow my ideas.

First, many species’ habitats are the Amazon ancient forests; the illegal logging has made their living area disappear directly. And then many species will be extinct soon. The Amazon forest is a specific area to get research from and know about our Earth’s growing. Beside, there is an important method to keep nature's balance. Ancient forests not only are vital habitats, but also keep the ecologic circle working. So we can not imagine how many species have disappeared and how valuable a resource we have lost in the Amazon forests.

Second, the timber producing countries have become weaker because of illegal logging. Their own trades are invaded, but they don’t have the ability to reduce these crimes. From the bank’s information, illegal logging has made the legal timber production industry lose millions of dollars in revenue. The trades are not stable. I think we can’t trade with the illegal logging, and cut down the trading amount with them. If there are no business opportunities, I think the deforestation rate will be decelerate. On the other hand, the countries, by producing timber, become poor and can’t afford the expense, or they don’t even have income to keep a normal country working.

Most of all, the policies about banning illegal logging have to be administered completely, and the related organization should supervise the working of the policies. If the protecting policies perform availably, the solution will get worse. Both environment and economy are destroyed by illegal logging. The world leaders should contact together, like making the union laws, giving the finance help, even the force aid, and make the countries that need help change and become stronger and more powerful; moreover, don’t trade with the illegal loggers.

In conclusion, illegal logging involves the problem of climate change, species extinction, and economic system. It is a huge issue that we have to consider to make urgent actions. In fact, the ancient forests of natural resources should be preserved for people in the future. I hope that people and the natural forests can exist together and solve the illegal logging problem soon.

Damages from the global warming

Damages from the global warming

From the article "Global warming threatens if species", the author points out that many species will be extinct soon because of climate change. The author thinks the best way to solve the problem is to find other suitable areas for the endangered species, or the conclusion will be complete and real. There are three reasons that make species disappear: habitat destruction, invasions by alien species and overexploitation by human. Moreover, the author assumes reassembling the species may be possible if the climate changes slowly. The author also asks the question of where we can find those specific areas? However, the author says that it is not every species that has to emigrate, and smaller new areas hold fewer species. Finally, the author states that we should stop the climate from getting worse immediately.

It is very clear about the damages that are from global warming, because the effects are just around us. The author gives us many valid points, and I agree completely with the author that the species are becoming extinct. Therefore, the global warming is the most serious of environmental issues. There are some reasons presented that follow and explain my viewpoints.

First, it is worrisome that the species will become less and disappear, because the biodiversity can balance the environment. The environmental balance is destroyed by the species extinction, and the global warming makes the amount of animals or plants lose their habitats, like polar bears. When we lose the special species once, it is very difficult or even impossible to reassemble and rebuild the ecologic circle.

Second, the warming even harms human life in this day. The global warming is the root of the climate change. There are many environmental disasters that have taken place in recent years. In my country, Taiwan, the typhoons are stronger and even invade in fall. Besides, thousands of people die or lost their property because of the typhoons. Human is also a part of the ecologic circle; global warming also ruins our lives.

Third, the global warming also makes the living condition change. The ice melting floods the lower coastlines and smaller islands; in addition, the desert regions become larger and the produce also can't grow any more. The food will not be enough to feed people and animals one day, and starvation will happen more often. The area where people live will become ocean and desert, and it will be so horrible.

In conclusion, the problem has to be solved and this can't be postponed. Maybe we can't imagine the further picture, if the problem it's solved, but it really connects with people's lives. In fact, I think the government should stand up an figure out the correct way to stop global warming, so that we can live on a safe and beautiful earth.
